Shrimp Boat Trips
The Experience
In the Spring months (March until the end of May) blackfin tuna and bonitos gather in numbers behind the many shrimp boats in the Gulf of Mexico. They are there to eat the by catch that is shoved over after the shrimpers pull their nets. We get to the boats just after dawn to collect by catch from the shrimpers. From there we move from shrimp boat to shrimp boat until we find one that is holding tuna. This is a very visual and exciting way to fish offering anglers from novice to experts a chance to sight fish with dead baits, artificials, or even flys for strong pelagic fish. Everything happens very close to the boat and is an experience like no other. After we have had our fill of tuna and bonitos we can fish a number of wrecks that fill the gulf of mexico for snapper, large groupers, permit, and even large kingfish. *This trip is weather dependent, if wether does not permit we will revert back to a full day.
